Is This Performance Based Internet Marketing Option Feasible?

We market our physical product exclusively online via our web site, then direct our customers to Amazon to complete their purchase and use Amazon FBA to fulfill and deliver our orders to our customers. We are considering employing an Internet marketing specialist, with writing and PR skills, to drive traffic to our web site. When the visitor clicks on the order button on our web site and is directed to our Amazon listing, they will do so via the affiliate code of the marketing expert, which is embedded in the order button, who will then receive their compensation directly from Amazon. Is this feasible?

Yes, we do get very good sales/visitor conversions of between 4 - 8% and yes we do have a very good product with a large target market

If that website is already associated with your Amazon store, it won't work, there will be no commission paid on those sales. Amazon would see it as you trying to be your own affiliate even with a different affiliate ID.

You are hiring an affiliate, not a marketing person. As a marketing person, I know that my work generates sales down the road, for other affiliates and other channels. A user "touches" a product 2.3 times before they purchase on average. That means, a friend recommendation, Google, banner ... whatever, but then they make a purchase. It is much different now than in years past when we advertised and tracked all the sales. We do a large internal email campaign and I simultaneously see a spike in sales using that product name in Google. You can pay someone you hire for marketing just on sales they directly create.

I also feel that there is no mechanism in Amazon to transfer funds to two accounts on a successful sale in order to compensate your affiliate. Plus, its in fact an affiliate marketing not internet marketing. Its better for you to hire an internet marketing specialist to get more sales and business for you.
