Can a Hosts file be edited to make a certain browser open specific URL's?

What's wrong with having a small app running in the background that can do all that a collection of Registry hacks can and more, one with the ability to add browsers, or multiple versions of a browser, quickly and easily?

I was only mentioning it in the context of what the IE right click hack does. If that's all one needs, the hack is all that's necessary. (BTW, FYI: http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster...uot-to-any-URL)
