If you're "creating" backlinks, that to me does not sound natural. Shouldn't backlinks be naturally created by others out there, bloggers, markets, etc. not by the owner of the website? I'm a n00b so correct me if I'm wrong...

Let's put it this way. By propagating your business information around the Internet, the byproduct of doing so, can result in the creation of a few or a lot of backlinks. Of course, this depends on how you are distributing that company information. Does one create backlinks through this process? Probably yes. How many? It depends.

But now you can see why the advices is to create these backlinks as naturally as possible and with methods that are acceptable and do not try and circumvent SE guidelines. There is, of course, much more to this than what can be conveyed in this one post, but I think you get the idea?

The idea, "if you build it - they will come", and then "they" want to set up one-way OBL's from their sites to yours, IMO, would be wishful thinking in most cases.

I believe what you are talking about is the natural way of link building such as Matt Cutt's makes reference to by having others naturally link to you, which are some of the best links to get, however, as LD, stated and to surmise quickly, if you are going to sit around and hope that others naturally link to you, then you could be waiting a really long time, unless you have content that is newsworthy, compelling, and sometimes controversial. I agree with Mr. Cutts with this approach and after a period of time you do naturally get backlinks this way; on the other hand, if you are an online business or your site a business portal, then you have to take advantage of every white hat method to gain search engine results and authority for your site.

You should create 10-12 backlinks per day or google will think that you are spamming and will block your ip.

Well, google blocked my ip for 2 weeks and the reason given was that I was creating too many links and considered me a spammer. I researched on it and found that creating too many backlinks in a single day can be dangerous and 10-12 backlinks a day are fine.

That is because backlinks are being created from different IPs, creating that many backlinks from single ip can get you blocked.

To clear the air, why don't you tell us exactly what you did to get "banned" by G, as you mentioned previously?

I used on about 2 to 3 blogs everyday but after a few days I increased to number 10 plus I used softwares like commenthut, comment kahuna and ultimate backlink builder. They made 100s of low quality backlinks o a single day and as I jumped from 2 to 3 backlinks to hundreds in one day, google though I was spamming.
