All discussion about SEO seems to suggest getting Google Plus clicks will weight strongly for SEO rank - so how does one get visitors to click??? I visit websites all the time and it never occurs to me to click Google Plus icons if I see them. I look at my own websites and I don't see anyone clicking them. So, what is the attraction? How do we get people to click Google+ and what really is their motivation? If we set up some reward scheme, isn't that obvious and wouldn't it cause a flag?

As an example, I have this website http://capeschancklightstation.com.au where I've placed a Google Plus in the sidebar. I could probably make it bigger. I could probably put it in the body of the home page text, but really...

So, in theory I need to get some clicks. Can I click all my own websites so that I have at least 1 click? Or, would that be like clicking my own Adsense links?

Google Plus click exchange??? Well, it seems obvious that we could post websites here on WebPro with Google Plus buttons and then ask members to click each others Google Plus buttons. Would that have value?

BTW: If I was to click a bunch of Google +1 buttons for other webmasters more as a favour than a need, would that mess up my search results or cause some blow back in anyway?

Not that I'm qualified to respond to your actual questions, but one that arises is, are G+ clicks shared across your social network the way that Facebook Likes are? You could definitely be sending your community (network) mixed messages if you are clicking sites they don't see you having a need for or an interest in. JAT

Hi there, that's really a great question!

I tell you what, I've never thought there's a correlation between the # of Google Plus clicks and your Google Pagerank (is Google PR what you mean by SEO rank? or do you mean search engine rankings?). Now I think there might be a connection, because Google seems to benefit from it. Web Res, could you please provide some reference where webmasters would prove that correlation?

As far as more Google Plus engagement is concerned, I believe it's not about making the sidebar appealing. It's about making a G+ corporate account and working consistently on sharing other people's stuff, taking to them - they'll click Google+ back for you.

Then you are on the right track. PageRank is about links, nothing else.

yes, that will happen for sure. Does Google has any spam control here?

My concerns about Google +1 come from a few things recently published including this from Rand Fiskin at SEOMoz http://www.seomoz.org/blog/why-every...oogle-strategy where he talks about how Google +1 clicks have an impact on search. He's not saying it supercedes link building for better search results, but it appears to have an effect that could be obvious and worth pursuing.

And that leads back to how do you get clicks? Should we set up some process to click each other's websites to get them started?

I was also reading this about Google employees being unhappy with how Google +1 could be perverting serach results and Larry Page's comments
    .
"Now, a source tells us that CEO Larry Page, who seems to be hell-bent on competing with Mark Zuckerberg whether it’s the right thing for Google or not, had this to say to employees at a Friday staff event after the Search Plus Your World launch: “This is the path we’re headed down – a single unified, ‘beautiful’ product across everything. If you don’t get that, then you should probably work somewhere else.”

There are a few ways to get Google +1 clicks.

1.) Tell your audience to click on it if they like your content
    2.) Buy them

I personally haven't seen any impact on rankings from a site having them in place, but since it's a Google driven device, and we all know that Google loves Google, I think it's required for anyone who wants to get ranked in Google to make an effort to earn some.
