    Landing Page Transfer?

Hello all, I need a quick answer please on a process question.

I'm probably still in the 'newbie' category; I have build numerous websites using site builders on GoDaddy and places like that for my own use. This includes adding shopping cart buttons, flash audio and other items.

I have an acquaintence who has his own business website that he maintains and accesses via his own username/password account.

He would like me to build a custom landing page for him including flash audio, graphics and shopping cart button. I can do that using any one of a number of landing page/site builder tools.

My question is this: once I create a landing page for him using a page builder tool; how do I get that page transferred onto his site, since he would not want me to have access to his account/username/password? Is it possible that once a landing page is built, to save it as some sort of file/format that could be emailed to him so he could then install it on his website?

Sorry if that's a dumb question but I've never come across this situation before. Thanks for any and all help!

My experience in this area goes back a bit. I didn't really like site building tools because small tweaks were usually not possible, design effects were (and still are) fairly limited, but the main reason was that the resulting site files were not portable. The site building tool is usually an app running on the back-end of the hosting server environment, which at least in my case negated the ability to port those site files. There are ways around it if you have time and patience, but it sounds like you really need some sort of web editor, which would solve your problem from the get-go.

Another way to do this, once you've got everything done, would be to view the live (or online) version of the landing page and go to view source (CTRL+U for FireFox). You can then copy the source code (HTML and CSS if embedded) and copy it over to Notepad or something else. If you're using external CSS files etc, you can view those through the view source as well. just copy over everything and put them in new notepad files, saving them as .html/.css/.js whichever may be needed. Same with saving images etc that you may need.

Once you've done that, put them all in a folder and zip the folder, you can then email him the folder containing all required images/files and he can add it to his host.

That's not going to work unless it's an .HTML file, with no database(s) involved.

Neither will it resolve any references to external files.

Deepsand is right, especially if he wants flash on the site, you wont have access to save a copy of the flash file.

Have you pointed out to your freind that if he uses flash he is going to have problems on any iPad or mobile access
as they mostly cant view flash files anyway...

If you have to ask how to, than maybe you should not be doing this using a SiteBuilder. Good rule in life is "Go with WHAT you KNOW".
Sitebuilders are really designed for inplace personal usage not for designing a movable and marketable product.
For you own sake in future Learn to use a Stand-alone web design tool and / or a CMS package.
Also if your client doesn't trust you with his hosting access details then you shouldn't be trusting him either.

With his user information, you might be able to access a sitebuilder program used by HIS host..

Godaddy site builder most likely involves a database to save the setting of the current page.
The hack I could suggest is to build the page, preview it then save the HTML markup of the final page displayed. If you use many small images (forground, background) what you would do is save the page as "Web Page, complete" so the web browser can suck all the images used in that page. You can then open the the saved document and move images in the the proper folder specified in the markup of the HTML file previously saved.
    To recap:
    - first only save the HTML markup of the page displayed.
    - second save a displayed page as "web Page, complete" to get all the images in one shot.
It should take about 5 minutes to reconstruct your web page in your computer.

This is like copying someone's website and trying to publish it on your host. impossible, because all the links point to wrong places. As deepsand said, you could do this only in plain html and he would have to change all the pointers. You could create complete website and send him the whole structure. But this is impractical ans does not guarantee success. It would have to be pure html.

I know that there are some site builder tools for ubuntu/linux that you could use if you wanted a wysiwyg type deal. Some of them are supposed to be pretty good although I've never used them. They are made so you can upload the product to a remote server. (names: Komposer, Bluefish if memory serves)
