    Banner and Pop Advertising

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question. Please advise if it should be in another forum.

Our website/company been contacted by Xuppa.com to place banner and pop advertising on my website. The pay split is 50/50 and is based upon impressions not clicks.

My question is: Has anyone had experience with this company or with other banner and pop advertising (other than Ad Sense)? I would appreciate any comments or advise.

    Thanks
    John

Xuppa is renoun for massive spamming efforts. I dont personally know much about their banner network but due to the other practices that they are involved in, I would not put them on my web site.
Our state-of-the-art delivery technology has the ability to send well over 1 million emails per hour with unlimited capacity.
This is directly from their web site.

Of course, this is just m opinion, but I would at least be very cautious when placing a banner onmy site. Also, something to keep in mind id that search engines do not like to see banners or pop up's or anything like that on a website.

Ask yourself this fundamental question - how do you feel when you are subjected to pop-ups?

We having a saying which goes something like 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' in other words, don't go anywhere near it!

I like to have control on what is being displayed on my website, be it text or banners, with these guys I reckon you don't have much control over what is displayed on the banners on your website.

At least with Adsense you can block websites, and your advertising topics from the content of the page.

    Pop-Ups

Pop-Ups and banner ads, I use them all the time!

I use Fastclick.com you can select what size of banners or pop-up you want plus you can select the ads that are generated.

I admit some can be annoying, my site is more suited for the ads, and your may not.

The default ads ARE google ADSENSE so you get both with them!!

    Advertising

Yes, when you allow ads on your site, you spend a little bit of your "trust capital" with your users. If you've got poker popups and "click here to work in the United States" banners (maybe I'm the only one who sees those, since I live in Japan), your site's trust quotent will be but in half. I don't allow any advertising on my website, except for cross-advertising my other site. I don't even like having Google ads...

Given how most people feel about pop ups, I surprised webproworld has a popup that asks you to sign up for their newsletter.

    Yes

Yes, someone once tried to buy my "exit traffic" from my website. I hung up the phone so fast it would have been a blur. I definitely think that's one of the reasons we've succeeded -- not having these crappy business practices builds trust with our customers.

I personally think it would cause you more harm than good.
