Outbound Links in an Article Directory

I have noticed that an article directory I use only includes one outbound link on each article page as seen below:

    http://www.semanticarticles.com/busi...-for-sale.html

It also only uses categories and subcategories of Google Merchants (Taxonomy) and it has only one linked image to another high quality article directory, but link attributed with nofollow.

Would this be an advantage or disadvantage?

Not only is the effect of OBLs on a page's PageRank of a vanishingly small amount, as it is spread across each and every other page that Google has indexed, but that effect is independent of the number of OBLs on the page.

Furthermore, PageRank is not the only thing of benefit that accrues to any link, and should never be the one of primary concern.

If all the links are to the same website, then the number of outbound links shouldn't matter as it is all going to the same site, no?

As to any effect on the source page, it makes no difference what the targets are or how many there are.

As for the targets, only the first OBL of any pointing to the same target count; the shares of PR allocated to the remainder are lost.

E.g., if there are 10 OBLs pointing to the same target, and no other OBLs, only the the first of the 10 OBLs is indexed, and the target gets credit for only 1/10th of the PR of the source page.
