Is $99/mo for OpenSiteExplorer.com worth it?

I've had a few books reference SeoMOZ for help when researching quality of back links. However, the cost, $99/month seems really steep for what's offered. Am I being a cheap skate or is this really worth it? I run a small business doing website design in Kalamazoo, MI and every customer I've had has asked about SEO so I'm making it a priority to learn more and become proficient.

Does anyone have tools similar to OpenSiteExplorer.com that they use?

Thanks for your time reading this!

If you are talking about seomoz's PR0 package then its fair amount because you will get more then opensiteexplorer.
    And its opensiteexplorer.org not .com

It really depends on how much link building you're going to do. For most webmasters, you can get plenty of good data from Open Site Explorer and their free version. I would focus on the best links of your competitors, and you get plenty of good data from the free version. I do have a subscription to the paid tools, and there are other tools that I use more often.

For link research, though, Majestic SEO is really going to give you the most amount of accurate data. Try their site explorer for free.

$99 out - what's the pay off? Info?

Hey, I just went to the opensiteexplorer page, put my url in and was told I'd hit my daily limit of three reports. I've never been there before. That's funny. Nice looking page though.

Why not go with something like ibacklinkpro or even majestic seo? Both are better that seomoz/open site explorer, though I use ibacklinkpro

In re. iBacklinkPRO, it provides only a filtered listing of existing links.

both seomoz and majestic have their flaws. seomoz data seems much more out of date than majestic, however majestic shows a lot of links that no longer exist. It's a crapshoot really. I am pretty sure ibacklinkPRO is using a mashup of the feeds from both.

While obviously not conclusive, that would fit with my not being able to find any evidence of their doing their own crawling.

OSE is quite useful tool as far. I think $99 is not high price according to me. You can go for the many tools and personally I used screaming frog for the link analysis.
