    "Dog Days" refers to the effect of hot, humid weather on fauna, as evidenced by the excessive panting of dogs; it is not derived from spending habits.

    And, there are very many activities generating sales during such times. In addition to the two cited, there are also, among others:
    • Fairs;
    • Festivals of all stripes;
    • Concerts at stadiums and Summer sheds (outdoor pavilions);
    • Auto shows, both indoors and out;
    • Countless travel related activities.

    ROTFLMAO.

    Do you really think that I am so uninformed and inattentiveness so as to make the sophomoric mistake of making such a statement without a factual basis?

    All of the AdWords accounts that I actively administer provide for Daily budgeting only.

    Around here mall traffic is seasonal and location dependent. Malls at tourist destinations, such as the New Jersey shore, do well in the Summer but die in Winter. Malls close to where people live experience the opposite.

    My AdWords accounts provide only for a Daily budget, with optional intra-day smoothing.

    Thank you for sharing this with us. As advertiser, Google adwords has become generally to expensive for my low yield business. But still I spend some $10.000 a month.
    Thanks to your information I hope I will be able to use this money more wisely.

    Perhaps they deleted the option, but the last time I used Adwords you certainly had other choices besides the daily budget.

    They did a beta test of Monthly budgeting about 3 years ago, which was discontinued around JAN 2009.

    They set your Monthly budget = Daily budget x 30.44, with your daily spend fluctuating .

    I can tell you that:
    • None of the accounts that I administer provide for other than Daily budgeting;
    • No active official AdWords Help pages for other than Daily Budgeting are found; and,
    • Google pages which did address Monthly budgeting now yield HTTP 500 errors.

    Your mileage may vary.

    OK, so if monthly budgeting isn't the explanation why revenues start strong and weaken during each month, then does anyone have any ideas why?

    I think this is really good advice and what I use with my clients not just for advertising, but for mailouts etc.
    Different items do have different peaks tho despite most people having more disposable income at the end of the week/month, and its worth using these to your advantage... of course you have to find them first!
