Thread: Sites Losing Traffic

    Sites Losing Traffic

I’ve recently noticed, since around the 20th of October, certain sites are losing visitors. Google Analytics dashboard reveals that traffic is decreasing steadily for about a week. This is happening in more than one site.

What’s wrong people? Can someone explain? Besides Panda and the usual stuff about contents, etc. has something new turned up? Like some new parameter being introduced in ranking? Or something else?

I think a lot of people are seeing this happen, although some see it sooner/later than others. I suppose that's due to a certain trickle-down effect. For example, if sites that link to you were devalued a couple months ago, your site might just now be seeing the effects of that action. From what I've read, it can take months for all the dust to settle. On a more positive note, this whole shakedown in SERPs has reminded us all that relying on organic traffic for the bulk of our traffic and revenue is a bad business plan.
Do the best you can - as fast as you can - then fix it later.

In October we had Panda, Vincent and Links updates. Fluxes were expected, and after such a major updates combination. That does not mean you should just sit back and wait for the dust to settle. It is the best time to re-evaluate your strategies and practices, tweaking parts which maybe are no more compatible with the search engines updates and tweaks.

While looking out for some reasons for the drop in ranking and traffic... I have found this interesting Matt's video about the same issue.

You must be knowing the source of the traffic in GA. Are you loosing the traffic from search engines? From GOOGLE? From BING? Just analyze you analytics account and look for the previous traffic record. you can look for a different time period and can find the keywords that was bringing traffic to your website. You can find the solution in GOOGLE ANALYTICS itself.

You'll not find solutions there, but only data which may or may not suggest possible sources of the problem.
