    Amazon's new Kindle pad

Lauched today I believe is a new Kindle with loads of features the IPad offers. They say it will be on the android format/system.

Pundits on the BBC this morning predicted Amazon could offer Apple a run for their money, (but then they would, wouldn't they?)

I suspect at the predicted price range it may not be all it is cracked up to be. Brilliant spin however! Or will the Ipad have to come down in price to compete? Theories Guys and Girls?

I have an Ipad/phone app already suspect if it does take off many need an android app ASAP

The Kindle Fire, which has many similar functions, will be sold in the U.S. for $199 (12, less than half the price of the cheapest iPad available.

I have no idea, seeing as it is sponsored/sold by amazon. I suspect everything will be geared to their products. But if using android o/s and wifi capable then surfing the net for non amazon apps must be possible if amazon have not built in some preventative mechanism.

Did more research... Looks like they are going to push the Amazon Android Appstore... So if theres an app store, we will be able to create apps for the Kindle Fire.

I am not developing for Android yet, but will be soon. So I signed up for their app developer program. They have it set to free right now for the first year, and it's better to take advantage rather than miss out when they decide to kill that promotion...
