Thumbs up Stopping comment spam using Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin

I was wondering if anyone here has been using the GASP (Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin) for wordpress? This thing seems to be stop comment spammers who use spambots dead in their tracks. I haven't seen it mentioned here yet. It makes it so that if anyone goes to post a comment, they simply tick a box confirming that they are not a spammer. No more annoying captcha's for visitors to have to jump through hoops to get their post to get submitted. I've read that tons of people have seen sharp decreases in automated comment spam after installing this free plug-in. That decreases the time spent reading comments to see if they are legitimate or not. Just go to plugins and do a search on: Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin and install.

Another favorite of mine is KeywordLuv to reward the legitimate visitors who do contribute worthwhile comments. Between these two plug-ins, you should eventually have a blog filled with great comments having to do with the topic at hand.

If any of you have experience with the GASP plug-in, please post your experiences with it (good or bad). I am wanting to roll it out to all of our clients web sites who use wordpress blogs that have commenting enabled. Many clients may not log in for a month or more. Nobody wants to log in to have the rude awaking of finding 5,000 comments pending for approval with 95% of it being automated spam. AKISMET is good, but it filters out too many legitimate contributors, therefore we have decided to disable it. Regular on-topic blog comments help the pages get more and more pageviews, so we really like it when people leave worthwhile comments. Anybody who depends on ad revenue from the advertisements they have posted on their blogs will benefit even more as more and more genuine comments are posted, so it's a win-win for all. People who actually read the comments at the bottom may enjoy reading them since the automated ones are totally gone without the need to moderate.

I found that the trackback spam plugin they suggest doesn't work well generally plus dumps legit trackbacks therefore I removed it.

We have Askimet and it seems to deal very well with comment spam, but we still have problems with trackbacks. Its a pain having to delete them from the moderation queue, any ideas on a better approach_

Yeh & I must be blind, b/c I can never read the trackbacks. I never understand what it says b/c of all the brackets & stuff. So I'd also like a solution. I disable pingbacks, but I'm not sure that's even the same thing.

Since I use NoSpamNX plugin, instead of automatic 150 spam comments per day I only have 2 per week.
