Exclamation Court Says Sending Too Many Emails To Someone Is Computer Hacking

Court Says Sending Too Many Emails To Someone Is Computer Hacking ( by Mike Masnick )

Okay, the courts are just getting out of hand when it comes to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), which is supposed to be used against cases of malicious hacking. Most people would naturally assume that this meant situations in which someone specifically broke into a protected computing system and either copied stuff or destroyed stuff. And yet, because of terrible drafting, the law is broad and vague and courts are regularly stretching what the CFAA covers in dangerous ways.

    I've been hacked! Too!

Guess this puts the kibosh on email campaigns to our government reps from now on.
Hey, if viewers flood broadcasters with phone calls after Janet Jackson shows chest meat on Superbowl games, is that hacking also? It might interrupt techs trying to read their emails. Same with traffic jams. All the drivers caught in one are guilty of computer hacking because Joe Businessman can't get to the office to read his emails in time.

Crickey, the business set their inboxes to small. They couldn't be bothered to set a filter to divert these emails into another folder, so the senders get convicted?!?

Probably there is a better explanation for the ruling. It is only removing unions from having rights, setting precedence for blocking consumers and voters from voicing opinions. All that crap just gets in the way of democracy, anyways.
Babies don't need a vacation, but I still see them at the beach... it pisses me off! I'll go over to a little baby and say 'What are you doing here? You haven't worked a day in your life!'

That is absurd! What qualifies as "too many" emails?
