    I'm not saying I know and I'm also not saying that that's the case (that they have a plan) but I think they have the resources to play the long game. I just can't see them mothballing the whole exercise any time soon.

    Without a critical mass of active members across a sufficiently wide demographic base, G+ is toast.

    And, it wouldn't even the third time that Google's thrown in the towel on social networking. Google doesn't keep throwing money at a project. Once they've spent the amount allocated to it, it either sinks or swims. The margin on advertising is just too great for them to not aggressively spent on that instead of a wish list of other things.
