Importing Videos into Flash Problem

Everytime i import a video into flash, the whole file seems to double what the video file was when i export.

I always export as *.swf

Is there a way to compress it inside of Flash so that when i export it, the files not huge?

Go to File-->Publish Settings and that pops up a dialog box. If you have Flash (.swf) selected, you will have a tab at the top that says Flash. On that tab you will find an option for Compress Movie, make sure it is checked.

I import digital video (740x480) in full capture format, and then resize it in flash and export it. My most recent project, the DV was 145mb and the exported swf was 84.5mb.

check the format of the video as well, as some video formats are more liable to wreak havoc at times in Flash, especially older versions (I had a hard time with DV in Flash 5, but in MX it works better, and I heard MX 2004 is even better??)

You might post what format your original video is (avi, mpg, DV) as well as any compression that has been done on it. If the video is already compressed, compressing the flash file may actually increase the file size. It may be similar to using winzip to zip a file that is already a zip, it inflates the size rather than decreasing it.
