Thread: Forget SEO! Now buy Position 1 on page 1

Forget SEO! Now buy Position 1 on page 1

Bing tests Ads with organic search results. This is really shocking! I mean, something crazy is happening. Google was alleged months before of manipulating search results, but now Bing daringly tests Ads with organic search results http://searchengineland.com/bing-tes...-results-86957. BING – Bing Is Not Google, well now we understand Bing is really not Google.

What will be the consequences if Bing introduces Paid search results @ Ads?

Now, who will care about the damn word ‘SEO’?

Can I buy position 1 on page 1 for the relevant keyword?

Is there a possibility of search results filled with only Ads in the future?

So now, can only brands with lot of cash reserves dominate page 1?

    Is this unethical?

Can a case be filed against them?

Why should I spend months/years doing SEO when my competitors can buy Ads on top slots in organic results within days?

These were some of the questions that arose in my mind when I read the news. Can we have a useful and meaningful discussion? Webproworld guys please come in, over to you now.............

I checked out the link you posted and it does say ad in the listings although it is not obvious.

Well, considering that spot nos. 1 to 3 on Google's listings are "Sponsored Listings," which not only take up the lion's share of the visual hot zone, but also push several organic listings below the fold, it seems a bit like nitpicking at this point.

I just checked bing with t-shirt and didn't find that sponsored ad in the middle.

You can't really say forget SEO, as you need to spend a lot more in buying ads (in most cases) and you will be outbid by the big dogs (you also mentioned that already).

    Is it unethical?

What I have seen in the screen shot shared is unethical (blending with search results). That doesn't reflect the rule of showing the best results .

In this case bing is generous enough to leave the first three positions and using spots no 4,5,6 (from what I have seen in that screen shot).

Humans are bombarded with ads via various media. We have become quite good at spotting ads and unconsciously discounting them. Without ever making a deliberate decision, I found myself ignoring the sponsored spots on Google.

    And SEO is free.

Not only is SEO not free to most, PPC listings are frequently both more cost effective and relevant than are the organic listings.

But we are hardly talking about the great unwashed. For the elite members of this forum, it is free.

Certainly. But do any of the elite use PPC only, and not even try for organic listing by SEO?

I'm all for seo, it's the gift that keeps on giving. I was just adding up in my head some of my visitor statistics as well as the CPC for these terms, and it would cost me a nice chunk of change to get this traffic from ppc.

As far as putting the ads in the middle of the searches, that's trickery, and people don't like to be tricked. At least with Google, people are aware that the first couple results are ads. And I don't think they get very many clicks.
    Happy Holidays!
