Google is always on tip toe to keep themselves abreast with the most current situation. Some works while others failed. I always believe in competition for the advantage of consumers.

Google's huge and I feel like they have no reason to have a partnership with facebook. Google offers so many other services(as we all obviously know) besides just the social media google+. So I don't think they'll buy out facebook, I also feel like zuckerberg wouldn't give up his reins so quickly. It would however be very cool like you said to be logged into basically everything with just one account.

How cool would it be to also have everything be inaccessible owing to any sort of problem with such single account?

Back to the original question of a partnership... It won't be a partnership. When the Facebook share price crashs into oblivion, Google will just buy them out and offer users an upgrade to Google+.

Exactly! You are much more vulnerable with one account. Anyway, i don't think the merger will happen. They both are best at what they set out to do G as SE and FB as social media. Facebook has to get into serious trouble before Google can gulp it up.

I don't see Facebook and Google partnering - what does Facebook have to offer Google and what does Google have to offer to Facebook? And Google has never partnered with anyone - they buy companies out, they don't partner with them. The only partnership they had was with Apple ... look how that is going and where it is going. What do you think Android is? A statement that Google would rather go in and take the market share for themselves.

Google+ has failed I guess, but that won't stop Google from trying to buy the next big thing. Why do you think Instagram was so expensive for Facebook? Google is one big fad away from seriously competing against Facebook. We've seen YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest all have great popularity ... Google just doesn't seem like something you social network on so they'll have to wait for something like YouTube to come along, grab the American public by fire and then buy it for 1-2 billion and then integrate it into Google

Good call, good call. and I guess my stance has changed since then too. It looks like if anything 'search' is going to hit Facebook, it'll be through BING but they could put their differences aside and make their mutual connections much better. It seems Facebook doesn't like Google - why block their spiders?

Anyways, like I said, good call.

I agree with one poster who mentioned that quite possibly Google will buy Facebook out eventually. What will probably happen is that Facebook's revenues will stagnate - they really aren't growing by that much in terms of users, just monetizing their users. Once revenue growth starts to stagnate, shares go down or don't move that much. That's not necessarily bad for the company itself as they'll still have an essential "monopoly" on social networking and be making billions still (Google isn't growing by that much either) - it just won't be worth that much as compared to the search market.

Google Inc owning Facebook Inc is more valuable than Facebook Inc owning itself - think about the kind of powerhouse they would be with Android, Google, YouTube AND Facebook - so the buyout would definitely make sense assuming the price is right and Facebook majority shareholders want to cash in on their shares.

My guess is that Google's plan is, "Do everything Facebook and Twitter can do, and do it better."

If Google can manage that, and Google does employ a lot of top talent, then the fickle users will gravitate to Google.

Why join them, if you can beat them?

Not to mention, "And everything Skype can do, too!" That seems to be in the pipeline.
