Buying Domain with no Credit Card

I'm interested in registering a domain name and buying space from a webhost.

One problem, I don't have a credit card.

And due to bad credit rating (long story) I can't get one.

Credit Cards are mandatory with almost very webhost and domain register.

Any suggestions (other than asking friends/family to charge on their cards)

If you have a checking account you can get a visa or mastercard check card. Works just like a credit card. Maybe you can find one who takes paypal.

I do have a chequing and saving account, but have been denied a credit card.

That's why I'm here asking how to purchase a domain with no credit card.

    Google it!

Try some other variations but I found some options with the search phrase above.

NameCheap is the Registrar I use. Their payment section says:

How can I pay for domain registrations?

Currently, you can pay with a Visa or Mastercard Credit card. We also support Paypal payments which you can pay with most credit cards or even with an echeck. If you have a special case where you don't have a credit card, please e-mail us and we will see if we can help you.

    Best of luck.

    Hello tonytv,

I can help you out though my registration program "Good as Gold"

What are the benefits of setting up a GoodAsGold account?

    ANSWER:

A GoodAsGold account enables you to purchase domains, hosting, email accounts, and other Smart Bomb Hosting services without a credit card. Instead, you can wire transfer funds to your account. Once your account is active you can elect to have all Smart Bomb Hosting purchase amounts withdrawn from the account. Note that purchases made using GoodAsGold earn a 2% discount.

Just head on over to http://www.secureserver.net/default....g_id=Ravenhawk and setup an account.

If you have a checking or savings, get a paypal account and sign up for the debit card.

I am in the same situation, bad credit from losing my job during a layoff and getting behind.

Now, with paypal, you get the paypal account, get verified (address and name only) and get the debit card (mastercard). Then when you want to purchase something online, you transfer your funds to paypal and then shop online using the paypal card that works just like a credit card.

I wouldn't keep too much in there though, just for safety. Same goes for any check/debit card situation.

You may even look into some of these pre-paid mastercard/visa programs, as they do not do credit checks either and work just like the paypal one, you transfer money from your checking or savings to that account, then you use that card to shop online.

That is another idea. Just be wary, you may end up paying full price for the domains that way. All the local companies here charge the full $35/year for a domain registration, online you can get them cheaper. But really it comes down to what you have to do to get what you need and weighing the trade-offs.

Another thought is to have a friend or family member help you buy it. The domain will be listed under their name, but you can change the info in the whois easy enough. That is how I bought my second domain.

I personaly paid my webhosting and domain names ($150 anually) by check with a company called www.oneandone.com; that was a year ago so i do not know if it still is the case but it's worth giving it a try. Else just call up the companies and ask if you can pay by check, I doubt it very much that they would turn down a customer especially if you are buying webhost with your domain names. Anyway good luck and let us know what you decide to do !!
