I've noticed with my limited experience of Yahoo Answers that if your answer contains keywords that Yahoo can use, they high light any keywords and direct them to Yahoo's adverts. My guess is that by using keywords that Yahoo can use your Answer will standout from other Yahoo Answers that don't contain keywords. Although Yahoo have placed their own links in my answers, I'm still recieving traffic from them. I would also imagine that answers that Yahoo can use in this way will stay in the system for longer and therefore be of greater benefit to both your website and Yahoo.

Can you provide a current example of this?

Tracked down the source of the pop-ups you cited. They are MSN adCenter listings, which now supply PPC listings to Yahoo, running on the "content match" network.

Using keywords in Yahoo Answers seems like a very good idea, but the links only appear if I follow a link back from my website using the traffic monitoring software. I can't veiw the links on my answers via my Yahoo account for some strange reason.

Not sure why this should be the case; but, presumably you can see them when logged out.

I have used Y!A? bothy prefessional and recreationally, and to add to the discussion

You can add hotlinks by achieving level 2 which occurs at 250 points since you can only answer 20 questions at level 1 and you get 2 points per (10 for a best answer) this can take a few days of wheel spinning to get to level 2

Second it is self moderating, if you post a link that is not relevant someone with a bug up their rear end can report you for spamming , the question will be removed and you will lose the link and the point. enough violations and they suspend your account permanently

Interestingly enough is that google seems to to index these questions immediatly. When someone asks an obscure question and you copy and paste it in the google search bar, it will usually be the first result on google search.

If you get a best answer, the post will be permanent and the link we stay.
