LinkAssistant, as far as I recall, is a manager/facilitator of finding links, automating the reciprocal linking emails that we all get hundreds of each and every week as well as manage to see recip links stay reciprocal, but will not find yours or your competitors backlinks. The best application for that is the firmware in your own brain.
Do some searches using keywords/phrases that might be used to find your site, and see what other sites are present in the SERPS.
