    Not only is this needlessly repetitive, having been mentioned as early as post #4, it's shortcomings have likewise been discussed; to whit:

    As for BackLinkWatch, it has several severe problems which have been widely noted. Chief among such problems are the facts that it:
    • Hangs as often as not;
    • Frequently truncates its report;
    • Truncates displayed URLs of source pages; and,
    • Misreports PR of source pages, possibly owing to said URL truncation.

    Can't recommend the free version of this one.
    • Raw links counts are woefully deficient; and,
    • Doesn't report the full 100 promised link details.

    In regards to the OP: I am finding that I absolutely love http://ahrefs.com especially their API, of which several of my suggestions are currently being added to same. Cleaner data, fresher than OSE or majestic as far as I am seeing, and far easier API to integrate FTW.

    I just downloaded Market Samurai and learned that yahoo site explorer has been discontinued. Is this true because that in my opinion was the best way to check backlinks, not that it was completely current.

    Yahoo announced several months ago that YSE was being merged into Bing Webmaster Tools (BWT;) YSE ceased to be on 21 NOV.

    Unfortunately, like Google, BYT will provide linkage data only about a site that has been claimed by a BYT account within their system, and only when logged in to such account.

    This means that no major SE now provides for good link data about the sites of others. Of the smaller SEs, Blekko does so; but, as its database is not so large as those of the majors, such data should not be expected to be so complete as was that of Yahoo.

    As an update to my above post, ahrefs.com released their new API, with a number of suggestions I made on their facebook page. They are at least doing a hell of a job trying to keep their users happy. BTW: we also just integrated their feeds into several of our tools, and are finding the time spent doing so more than worthwhile.
