I think that the big G might start weighing the number of +1 a website has into one its "signals" about a websites quality.

How so, as it's effect is visible only to your Google Buzz friends?

I think this a rumour Google are spreading in order to increase the popularity of their latest gimmick with the likes of us... at the end of the day they're just jumping on the 'like' / 'tweet' bandwagon.

Why?? If less than 10% of the web sites use something how can it be used as a metric for ranking??

Have noticed people aren't pressing the Google +1 button? Seems they're tweeting, sharing and linking but not +1ing.

Maybe they are not logged in/don't have account on Google.

Successful use of the Google +1 will likely help with SEO efforts
Actually, I have noticed exactly the OPPOSITE of that. Adding the Google +1 button to your site will make your website load more than 2 seconds slower--which is NOT going to help your page load time.

Seems to me that Google themselves have been saying that faster load times will IMPROVE rankings apparently. So, I'm not recommending that you install the Google +1 button (at least for now until they fix it). I wrote more about it here:

However, IMO, it's a safe bet that Google is not counting load times from their own servers.
