    Google +1 Button

Any feedback on the Google +1 button? I've introduced it to a wordpress based blog just to experiment.
I can see why Google has added the button - possibly in response to Facebook's like system.
In my opinion there's a risk that we will end up with Google +1 spamming although I'm aware that some WPW staffers disagree with me.

Glad you asked! I was wondering the same exact thing! I put it on my blog this morning, but I have yet to see any activity with it. I am very interested to see how it affects rankings.

I was curious about the spamming issues myself. Clearly Google thought of this and has a way to combat it, right?

I've installed it too. It will affect only personalized search, for users logged in Google account.

Google been having issues with the button, e.g. from AdSense interface they had option to add you the button. To do that you had to click one to launch the page where the code was available, but it was going to url with button spelled with 1 "t".

Then again it is up and down, and now it seems you have to have index.html at the end of the url. It worked fine without it yesterday. They are having a laugh or what?

As per spam wise - I think Google now know better who is real person and who is fake account and they can use all the info - from gmail, to picasa, websites google analytics to profile average visitor etc; fake accounts wont use gmail for years etc. Of course, paid and incentive traffic could be something else to deal with.

I just added to my blog today also. I had to laugh when I heard Ed Dale say "who are they going to share it with, your Google buzz friends" on a recent video promoting his AllwaysBeShipping dot com program.

His comment was in the context of comparing buzz + 1 relative to a Facebook share which provides content visibility to a much broader readership based on how many users Facebook has relative to Google Buzz. LOL.

Successful use of the Google +1 will likely help with SEO efforts but not as much with driving referral traffic through viral distribution of content.

My view is it can't hurt to use Google +1 buttons in addition to other sharing mechanisms. I am assuming that Google will weight +1 of different Google users based some estimation of "influence." Google +1 is probably Google response to Bing + Facebook - Google!

    Buttons

From an admitted "I suck at seo guy" I stuck it on, compared speed with and without using pingdom, took it off.
