It is worth to submit in different search engine?

One of my friend gave me list of different search engine and suggested me to submit my site in them but i am not sure how its useful. Is it really needed to submit site in different search engine? how it can be helpful?

You should definitely submit to other search engines. You never know what kind of traffic you could get from them.

Somehow, I agree that you can submit your site to several search engines, but the only SEs that matter are Google, Yahoo and Bing. If you are listed in these 3, other search engines will find you.

There are lots of search engines around. Some are general, some are specific to a niche. These offers to submit to zillions of search engines are not really worth it. Some are not used by the general public at all. If you can find one or two specific to your niche, then I'd consider submitting to those.

Here is a relationship chart. It is a bit old as it refers to MSN (which not Bing) but you will get the idea that some search engines are fed info from others and the main ones. Search Engine Decoder

Yes. Get an incoming link from a site that gets crawled regularly and you will get crawled.

They can, if and when they discover your page(s).

    Direct submission ensures prompt discovery.

So, you are from the camp that that believes "if you build it, they will come"?? That, sadly, just isn't true. Try reading the thread from the beginning for some good advice.

My opinion: if you site doesn't have backlinks from good sites that are indexed frequently then yes you need to submit your website to Google, Bing and Yahoo!, Search, Aol and Ask. However, my site, which gets traffic from those other search engines (AOL, Ask etc) I never submitted to them and I am indexed there.

You just need to ping your website and that should be enough anyway. If a search engine can't get to you through pinging then that search engine isn't really valuable anyway.

The OP's question is not under what circumstances and how to aid an SE in the process of discovery, but rather to what extent being indexed by various ES is beneficial, a question that was long ago answered satisfactorily.

While good for a single page, that will not suffice for providing an SE with a complete XML site map.

    Care to explain?
