What is the name of the software? Do you have a backup of your site to work with or are you going to have to redo everything from scratch??

Your host "should" have had a backup solution in place.. Even if it was only a 7 day backup.. I'd look real hard at moving..

I have the site offline now, could not locate anyone in our area, who knew cgi, and no, they did not have a backup, I have a copy of my site now on cds, so no it will not need to be rebuilt. I know it needs the cgi edit screen manager, which can be gotten from: http://commerce-cgi.com, and i am a member, so i can get it for free. I just do not know what to do with it, after I get it. And the site would need to be pointed to the host, to make it work, I use paypal to accept payments. I know how to load the edit screen, with my products, once it is up and working, and I will do that. I will also need a new host, as the other host didn't know about cgi, I was told by some other programers. I guess their server wasn't set up for a site linke mine. If you would like to see it, and think you could fix it, I would just need to see how much it would cost, and then I could let you know if I am able to afford what you would need to fix it. I have poor heallth, and not able to work allot, because I am not able to stand for long periods of time, but I do need the web site up, for extra income if I can, and would love to get it back online if I am ablle, thankyou for taking time to answer, Joy

ugh, I just moved a client off of that software.. Not a fan really and don't know too many people using it.. I do know that William here is a solid cgi guy, I'll point him in this direction.. BTW, how many products do you carry?? Just curious how hard migrating to something a little more modern might be..

right now there are alot, if you type in cubbyholecreations.com it still pulls up, and you can see... i need to take some products out, and put in the new ones, so it will change. i liked the site, and figured it would be cheapest to get the edit screen put back up, i have years of work in the site already . . . i have had it since 2000, i just chane products as i want to with the edit screen, it worked really well for me, all i needed was it put back up, that is all that was lost when the server went down. joy

Joy: I would highly suggest rebuilding using a different software. That particular script set has not been updated in 8 years and is extremely likely to have exploits out for it.

I think that would be fine, but I do not know how or which one would work with my site. The pages are all built in Dreamweaver, would my pages work with a new cart program? I made all the designs, on the web pages, so am sorta partial to them, all the products I sell are alot of my paintings and items I make, so everything ties into each other, the site itself and the products I sell.

Since I took the site offline due to the problem, the stores email doesn't work, but you can reach me at this one
cubbyholecreations@msn.com I would love to get it back up, I have so much time invested in everything, I was heartbroken when the edit screen was lost. I have looked and looked thru the files I have, and my copy just may be there, maybe I am not sure what I am looking for. I did not build this site from scratch, so am not sure. But even so a new more updated one will probably be better... i am open to options . . .
