Do you make an effort to specifically check before commenting on a particular website, if that site uses rel="nofollow" links? If so does that detract you from making comments to some sites or topics?
There are those who are so focused on PageRank that they do in fact spend a great deal of time avoiding "nofollow."
This is irrational for the following reasons:
- Not all SEs treat "nofollow" in the same manner;
- Google will still index "nofollow" links if the target page itself is already indexed, thus both benefiting your Link Profile and gaining you possible display in the SERPs where the anchor text of the link in question is relevant to the searcher's query string; and,
- All links have the potential to generate traffic.
