    FP2003 Layering

    Help!
Can anyone tell me, if I use layers on my "index" page ( using FP2003 ) will search engines be able to read this? Will this help or hamper page ranking?
Also, I've been told that CSS is a good solution but since I know nothing about it and the "help" from MS is "no-Help" where can I go to find out more about CSS?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Michael

I must admit, I also get a bit perplexed when I hear the term "layers" mentioned. Here's a reference to using layers in FP 2003.
As far as I'm aware the term "layers" was coined by Netscape many moons ago.. but it seems to have remained in common usage, especially in WYSIWYG editors.

What I would call a div block element, goes by the 'user-friendly' name of layer. In answer to the original question, the use of 'layers'/div elements should not impair your site's SE rating at all. The only caveat being if you use text in layers that is not visible to the average visitor.. then you run the risk of being penalised.
