    Blog Commenting

Well, i have tried almost every method for backlinks except blog commenting. I am a bit hesitant about it because there is an uncertainty if your comments would be approved by the admin or not. There are no rules and regulations involved in it. I know, you have to make the relevant comments but the question is, would you allow anyone to leave comments on your blog when you know that someone is trying to get a backlink from this comment especially when you worked hard to achieve that page rank. So do you think this technique is really worth trying?

I've noticed that a few blog comments here and there can be valuable - although I don't comment merely for back-link/seo purposes anymore and when I did there were only a few times I did so.

I think if you can get a blog comment link at a pretty good site - high PR, really popular, lot's of traffic it could benefit you in their respective ways.

Blog comments on my blogs? Even if the person is trying to get a back-link I don't mind at all as long as the comment is good, real and genuine. If that's the case, I believe they and Google deserve a link!

Yes I believe blog commenting is worth it. As long as the blog is in your niche and you add a substantial and valuable comment. And be sure to use your name as anchor text and not a keyword. Using a keyword makes it look spammy and reduces your value.

Also, I would not spend a ton of time invested in blog commenting, but finding a blog with a ton of traffic can be worth it.

I got this somewhere, may be some other forum or a Ebook, they say "it does not matter if you are commenting blogs on your niche, it may bring you some extra traffic." I wonder how much of it is true! It has a positive side though. You can find more and more high PR even high PR .Edu and .gov blogs to comment if you are not targeting your niche.

Pretty surprised at this stage of the linking life cycle that you've tried everything else except for blog commenting, especially since the effectiveness of this strategy has been much (lower) than it use to be. I would have to agree w/ Superman & Innomax that they can be beneficial. As with any linking strategy, the keys are: relevancy, moderation/frequency & how much of your total linking portfolio the blog comments make up.

It's like any other networking opportunity. You have to be there for some other purpose -- to be helpful, to learn, to discuss things with your peers -- not just to sell stuff. You're going to be unpopular at Chamber meetings if every word you say is an ad, and you'll get deleted at blogs and forums if your comments seem self-serving.

But if you're willing and able to provide something of value in your comments, you can get good results. Even no-follow comment links can send traffic to your site.

I think blog commenting has its place. The smart way to do it, IMO, is to choose a few very blogs of "influencers" and follow them closely, comment only when you truly have something to offer and seek to establish relationships.

I know, it would be tough for a SEO experts to follow some blogs just to get some backlinks and even those backlinks would be there only if the admin would approve them. Most of the comments with links are being moved to spam by the automatic softwares like akismet.com and other softwares to stop the spams. Few of them go to pending list and if admin likes them or feel, its purely a genuine comment and someone is really following my comment would approve them and I am sure admin would not preference to the comments having links because the admin of the blog understand blog commenting techniques by SEO.

My point is, there are two levels which you will have to cross ( Software and then a admin review) before you would get that ONE backlink if it would go through and its not compulsory or guarantee that you would get it if you would follow certain rules and regulation. Don't you think, if we will put this much effort on other ways, we can get more quality backlinks, such as forum posting.
