I know, it would be tough for a SEO experts to follow some blogs just to get some backlinks and even those backlinks would be there only if the admin would approve them. Most of the comments with links are being moved to spam by the automatic softwares like akismet.com and other softwares to stop the spams. Few of them go to pending list and if admin likes them or feel, its purely a genuine comment and someone is really following my comment would approve them and I am sure admin would not preference to the comments having links because the admin of the blog understand blog commenting techniques by SEO.

My point is, there are two levels which you will have to cross ( Software and then a admin review) before you would get that ONE backlink if it would go through and its not compulsory or guarantee that you would get it if you would follow certain rules and regulation. Don't you think, if we will put this much effort on other ways, we can get more quality backlinks, such as forum posting.

Spammers don't spam manually, they just set xRumer or other software, and submits comments to 10,000 blogs without event moving a finger. They do not care about how smart blog owner is. Even if 99% blogs will delete spam, spammer will still have 100 backlinks in no time.

The point is, i wont care if someone is posting the spam comments to thousands of blogs, firstly it would be my software that would be blocking it and later on i would be reviewing the pending comments to approve and i wont allow it. I can tell if someone is really following my blog, he/she would never try to leave a link in every comment he/she would leave. It would be my blog that would be important for me not others and i would not care, if someone is trying to create a backlink on my blog by using a software or doing it manually.

So, that means we all should support SPAM and buy software's like xRumer to make the life of blog owners and forum posters as hell!

I don't think so: a BOT can never compete with a natural comment because they don't have brain to read and respond accordingly

They can just pick up a random comment out of a list and post it on autopilot but, what's the guarantee that the randomly picked up comment matches the subject of the blog post? no there is no such guarantee ...

I use blog commenting to drive traffic and possibly get a back link, but mostly to get brand impressions. People that are reading a blog about your industry are likely to interact with your brand at some point and if they have seen it before, they may be more likely to trust it as long as that interaction was positive. Posting helpful information is a great way to get people to like your brand.

I've never considered using blog commenting as a way to build backlinks. It's not that I couldn't post something worthwhile, but with all the spamming in blog comments these days (not to mention the hassle in dealing with blogs using commenting software like Disqus), it seems like a hassle.
