I was attempting to open the file that was attached for the scanpst and learned a new methot of finding originally installed version. If you right click the .PST file, then click "open with" you will get a dialog box. Click the down pointing arrow to the right of "other programs" and then click on browse. Now double click microsoft office, double click office 12, then scroll down the list to scanpst and double click it. Scanost is right above it and has the same icon....a ripped envelope.

These errors may cause the pst file damage of Outlook.
Pst file is very important to the outlook user. If it corrupt then you may lose the contacts, important dates and emails. However, your pst files corrupt then you have to recover these.

You must be using the old version of Outlook meaning 2000 or below. Outlook 2003 and above doesn't have the 2GB limit. The outlook pst file should be in the protected directory which is normally under your name in the sub-folder. If you are using Windows 7 then the path should be like this:
Users-computername-AppData-Local-Microsoft-Outlook

Computername refers to the name you have used when you install your Windows.

You can use the search function to find the scanpst.exe that can help to repair your errors. I had done it several times especially when my folders are being compact and emails coming in. This will corrupt the pst file.
