    Today Johan Remen Evensen jumped 243 m in the new Vikersund.

    He has improved it to 246.5 m already.

    The next milestone in skiflying is 250 m.

    Even if Johan Remen Evensen is a Norwegian and so is Bjørn Einar Romøren that held the old record of 239 m, my original post foccused on the new ski jump arena in Vikersund. I think it is more than 40 years since that record was set in Norway. Obersdorf and Planica have held the recent records.

    Now competing for more than three days, there has not been a single fall. The ski flyers say that it is the best jump they have ever tried. Some flyers claim that it is possible to fly 250 m there. That record may come in todays competition if the conditions are optimal. The wold championship in skiflying in 2012 will be in Vikersund, so you are invited.
