    OpenCart Disadvantages

OpenCart is easy to set up, and fairly flexible with some very nice templates available to start a design with.

What are some of it's major disadvantages, if any?

Recently my Open Cart Website got hacked, SO According to me there may be security issues as they are still under initial stages of development. That Cart doesn't produce SEF URLS, See - demo.opencart.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=100

I think opencart is adding seo frienly url's in a next version.

You should also take a look at prestashop. Works fine for most of my customers.

And if you you are looking for an hosted platform you should try solidshops.com .

Actually it does, you just have to turn it on in the settings. Not all of them are, but most. You can just do rewrites for the other urls.

I have read somewhere that OpenCart is launching SEO friendly URLs in its next version.

It's already got SEO freindly urls built in, you just need to turn it on in the settings, and set a keyword for items or pages. I find it very fast actually. I am also using it with wordpress, enabling me to use w3 Total Cache for caching some of the files.
