Hah, well at least you solved it. That is really odd tho. I use a default set of folders in most of my clients sites that includes a folder named 'includes' on many many hosts without any issues. What host are you using if I may ask (so I know never to host there)

ref menu bits; did afterwards also find this http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/ which has loads of useful bits and pieces, inc flyout thingy that I needed to add.
