    One Glove Fits All

I have seen the new http://www.webpronews.com/ website.

I am just wondering if wordpress only comes in blog format? I don't actually use it but I am wondering if there limitations with wordpress which keep it formatting to a newspaper digest format?

Also... if it helps anyone, forcing me to log in through facebook is the quickest way to keep me from using the website. I'm sure that attitude might be different with some people, I just don't have the time to keep a facebook account.

And if does help anyone, the time it takes for me to scroll from top to bottom almost makes me want to bookmark it in plain text format. I'm on a G4 Laptop. They aren't fastest machines, but I thought it would help for others to know that is is slow past the point of being usable.

And to be honest, I don't think it works... I click links and they go nowhere... the website seems to hang while "Transfering Data from error.facebook.com"

It is painfully slow, it worse than techcrunch and mashable in terms of speed. And like both of those websites, it crashes my browser.

I cannot express enough how disappointed I am that a company based on Web Pro News content upgraded with so many changes, and changes that don't really work.

It did manage to get a post through. I logged into facebook. But Facebook might have been having problems and that froze your website? I also crashed once. I thought I had crashed a second time but it eventually the browser unfroze after about 30 seconds or so.

I am on Firefox OSX if that helps.

It looks really good in terms of design, and the blog format is obviously a change from the news digest format and might be for the better, but it doesn't really work well, when it does work.

And I can't log out. I can obviously clear my cookies, but I don't think I should have to. I am not on a shared computer, I just don't like facebook very much, and not being able to log out, is just the icing on the cake. Sorry for ranting. I might not be the only one though.

I'm not sure if you posting this here will get you the attention you want. Putting this in the wordpress sub-forum and with that headline pretty much ensures the people concerned will never read your complaint.

But to answer your question, it "only comes in blog format" insofar as the default theme with the initial download looks like a blog. But no, there are no limitations to make it look like a newspaper, a corporate site or whatever you want.

Thanks Hugh, But this in particular is more to do with the WebProNews format.

How are the comments holding up? Are you getting alot of new people signing up to webpronews through facebook? And is the Blog format wrapped with pop up widgets doing alot for you?

While I think the overall artistic merit that went into the webpronews redesign is half decent, I am still at a loss regarding how difficult it is to use, and when it does work, at how painfully slow it is.

I really think you should ask these questions in a different subforum. Try the WebProWorld Suggestions section. The people who make this site and the other one read stuff there. Here, nobody will answer you. Nobody will even see it. Especially not with that thread title.

Well, I will report this thread so that Admin see it.

But yes, there is support for many ways of formatting wordpress sites ... just google 'newspaper wordpress' themes or templates. You can create an article directory format, as well.

And I am not sure what you mean by having to log in through Facebook. I don't have to ...

Apparently it's changed again... but now it has ceased to work...

I will just post the comment here... I tried posting it to this thread and it didn't work.

I agree in a sense, I stopped reading Mashable, if something is really good it will be retweeted I think.

Techcrunch is a little different. It's like an addiction as they have some really good stuff that you have to dig for it would seem.

WebProNews reminds me of DV mag, orginally a lightwave publication which was geared towards crew or skilled professionals. I still see it that way and there is level of professionalism that you find here that you don't find anywhere else.

These are just my opinions. I also think teh WebProNews newsletter is one of the only newsletters which is actually done well. I don't subscribe to many, but it is a good one.
