    DNS and search engine algorithms

    Hi everyone,

I've had an interesting question put to me, and I was hoping somebody here could help, or point me in the direction of a thread that helps.

Do the search engine's take into consideration the DNS information of the domain? For example, I need to find a new home for some .de German domains. As a UK based business we can easily transfer these to a UK registrar who we work with well, but will having .de domains registered with a UK registrar have an unduly negative effect?

We already host the .de sites these domains are for here in the UK, which I imagine has some negative effect, but this can't be helped. Was hoping if someone could advise if we need to find a new German registrar, or if this makes no difference, so we can use our UK registrar account.

    All advice much appreciated!

The hosting location has no effect in SERPs. It must be a reliable hosting, without frequently falls. The most important thing is the IP of links pointed to you. The links must come from your targeted country.

I've moved sites from my country in US. The rankings remains unchanged in my country.

People say that the location of hosting makes a difference but I've not seen it, I've got sites that rank in the UK that are hosted in the US and vice versa and don;t see any difference in ranking. You can always change your sites preferred location in Webmaster Tools as well.

I have seen this become an issue when it is not the country the web host is in, however it is the reputation of the web host. I had a client a couple years back that switched to a new host because he was saving $25 a year. Well, the new host was a SPAMMER and offered Spammer hosting, email hosting, bullet proof hosting, etc.
The IP he was sharing was a black listed ip and he was getting no where removing it from the blacklists. Once he would make headway, the spammers hosted on the same IP were continuously sending UCE and non compliant emails and the guy's work was worthless.
Needless to say, he came back to us after a 2 month hiatus.
