Cool Facebook Marketing - Ask Your Followers To Share

It's as simple as the title of this post says "ask your followers to share your content".

This is very old news for many of the expert members of WebProWorld.com but for new members looking for different marketing strategies this suggestion is golden and quitely reaps it's benefits, especially if your marketing budget isn't enormous and you're moving up the ladder slowly.

Ask them to share. Ask and you shall receive. When you visit your Facebook Fan (LIKE) Page with the intent of posting useful information for your members, ask them to share. Even ask them to share with a certain number of friends. Doing so slowly but surely and genuinely builds your page member list.

Old or new news, this information is important to remember or discover nonetheless. Statistics show that as the years go by, more and more people are learning and loving the act of sharing and doing it more and more. So go for it! And remember to share!

Content has got to get out there!

Sounds so simple. Doesn't work in reality. Here is what happens when you start trying to get people to share like that. Suddenly your facebook page is flooded with clickbank get rich quick links. Thousands of people who couldn't care less about your content are dumping garbage on your page. Your original friends have all deserted you because of the garbage and you have nothing to show for it.
I've seen it over and over again. Tried it myself in the early days of Facebook.
Of course the worst part is your own family saying "stop trying to sell us stuff!"
So if you are going to get frustrated by this, set up a whole new page just for that purpose. Then ask your friends to share THAT page.

Well Dinghus, I would say for starters it's not wise to have your family members as Likers of your Facebook Page, in essence, there's no reason for it unless you are indeed trying to sell to them and if not, they won't see your valuable posts. I stress valuable as we're not spamming here.

Also, all Facebook pages have two tabs. One tab is for the owner of the page and that tab is the default tab for:

    a. information that is posted by the page owner only
    b. posting information to your member news feed.

All this ONLY if you allow members to post - this can be fixed in the settings of the page. You don't HAVE to let other people post on your page.

If and when opportunists decide to come and share their content on my page, that information they posted doesn't get into my members news feed and nor do the members see that content unless they specifically click on it. I do sometimes as sometimes I find interesting things.

I canīt wait for Facebook to get old like MySpace and Blogspot. Itīs gimmicky, itīs everywhere and itīs founder is an unscrupulus conman. At least those other two donīt get ownership of everyhing you post at their site including your pictures and contact list.

If your having problems embracing facebook or getting spam from being a helpful resource then perhaps re-think your approach. asking people to share can be a simple "pass it on" or "please RT" (obv more twitter related). there's nothing sneaky here, your just gently reminding people to share something that actually could be useful to their friends.

This is a case of "When morestar speaks, listen." Dinghus raises a good point but, as morestar responded, it is all in control. Before Facebook, I tried MSN Groups and Yahoo Groups. Without controlling what was posted, group members would drop out because of the spam. If you look at the comments to news items in Yahoo and other places, there are plenty of ads posted as comment that have nothing to do with the news or sports item being commented on. And, like R2D2, I have been wondering when Facebook's run will be over, but that is another thread, I believe.

Soon hopefully.. well now that the movie is out! lol .. I see Bing who was Facebook's official search engine is now wanting to create its own Social Networking site. Bingbook.com? FaceBing.com? Can't wait for the lawsuits on that one..

I think once the dust settles and there will be no more facebook or twitter but a combination of both.. Web 3.0 will start.

There seems to be a lot of Facebook talk here. I'm wondering if I need to also get onboard and do something with facebook. Maybe I have missed the train...

Well it looks like Facebook will be around for quite some time so don't worry, the train is long...just get on it! Plus you can actually make a business for yourself on it too...
