If I understand your question correctly, it would be wise to check out the sticky for:

    http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster...g-Tips-for-MSN

    http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster...ssful-indexing

There webnauts has a very detailed breakdown of a variety of tips for optimizing your site for Msn. Keep in mind the post is from a couple of years back and some of the tips might be obsolete but will at least provide a foundation for what Msn looks for in comparison to Google and other search engines. The information there has been helpful to me and should give you "skeleton" of what Msn looks for in detail.

IMO theres no need of going after bing optimization...as they will never be going to steal any significant marketshare from Google...however, Bing is pretty much MS Live with a facelift and some very minor tweeks... So take what you used to do for Live and it should still apply for the most part.

Really? I have to wonder as Bing does not use PR at all in it's algorithm, that is strictly Google......

I do believe it was Tubby who posted some stats in another thread yesterday that showed his particular type of site gets a substantial percentage of its traffic from Bing. You have to consider that rather than making blanket statements.

I do not think it is about 'stealing market share'

If you were selling blue hair tint for women over 50. and discovered that 50 years plus women used Yahoo to search the web. Then clearly some of your potential users will be searching yahoo.

How will you reach them if they are searching Yahoo - and your results are on google?

classic cars - directory - Southern cross Engines
If Optimising for google gives you a headache? - try optimising your Users

    Bings recent major ranking factors:

    1. Social Media Networking
    2. Quality Content
    3. Quality Links

There are some assumptions that another major factor with Bing is SERPs CTR.

If Bing and Yahoo have amalgamated and now use the same search engine why are the rankings completely different in both SERPS?

Why in some posts do you actually sound like you have tons of clients, and know what your doing, and in others not know things that transpired long ago in the SEO field?

I obviously know it happened a long time ago, I also know how to make sites rank in the separate SERPS but I do find it curious that the 'shared' resource produces such different results.
Just pondering on the point of sharing such a resource but still having different algos running at the same time.
