Ways to Improve Logo for My Site

Hello all, how's it going? I own EastCoastAirsoft and would like your advice on the main logo on the front page. We've had that for awhile, but I feel like it could be brighter or more detailed in some ways, and that making such a chance would increase conversion. Any advice does not necessarily need to relate to that aspect of the logo, any suggestions you have will be valued!

On my monitor the red clashes with the brownish red of your background. Otherwise, I like it. I get that the red is the red of the US' RW&B, but it doesn't "go."

On first glance I would almost just change the red background to a blue color. That should be a fairly easy fix, for the red on red clashing.
I am taking a closer look at the logo itself right now.

After closer inspection of the logo, I still think the biggest change would be the background color.
However you might think about changing up the american flag part of the logo, either removing it or making it span the full length of the text. It might encapsulate the logo better and create a more cohesive image.
Another change that might work is going away from the gradient fill on the soldier and using just a flat white, with a dark or lighter border to create a ridge like effect.

Here is a quick mock-up of possibilities.

It's so nice of you to take the time, 3DG, I hate to criticize, but that blue background doesn't work any better, IMO.

It didn't take much time. It was an extremely fast mock-up to hopefully give some idea of something that would clash a little less. IMO it doesn't clash as much but I could be wrong, as you have said it is not an improvement.
Looking at it today I think the red on red looks fine, maybe just darken the red a bit.

Yes, the red look better than blue. I would make it a little more reddish and less maroonish to give it a more bright look.

    I agree with that...

The logo seems to stand out too much. The rest of the site's design elements flow really well.. and the logo just sticks out far too much. The colors seem to clash and the white outline of the logo doesn't match any of the other elements on the site.

The over all logo is a neat idea.. just needs some work. I would try some different styles on the fonts to see if you can make it flow better with the rest of your elements. Take a look at your other gradients and colors.

Darkening the red would help a lot I would think... Making sure it matches the read header text you have on the page.
