    Getting Accurate Local Search Volumes

Hello members and visitors of WebProWorld.

I cannot find a way of getting accurate local or regional search volumes. I'm using Google's Keyword Tool but much upon many of the results I'm getting are displaying "not enough data" or zero results.

I'd like to know the difference in search volumes per region because I know they must be different or diverse - more so than the average that is display in the local monthly search column.

If I do a search for instance on "anti-aging san diego" I do NOT find one result in the keyword results. If I search "anti-aging new york" I find results.

Are these accurate search volumes? Does San Diego NOT search for those products?

As Google's Keyword Tool is based upon its own record, I'm of the opinion that it is supreme.
I think Google has the data of July .... just compare with the data of August and observe the difference.

Ya I think it's going to be a manual process...city for city...keyword per keyword and if there aren't any searches I'll have to go by that although sometimes it would seem that is impossible.

Create a small AdWords campaign using your longtail local phrases. The impression counts should give you a good idea on search volumes.

Make sure you have analytics installed. You might find some long tail keywords while your running your Adwords campaign.

I am interested in this too..
I've noticed it seems not to report if the monthly searches are below 100 - I have been curious as to why...

Today's results were pretty good and I did find results below 100. I had to do check the volumes based on region manually and it's more accurate and efficient this way. In the end it took a little more time but I'm happy with the results.

Are you checking your AdWords results for the local search data you mention or from another measure?

Yeah it does suck when it comes to local results.
What I find helpful is (for example) if you live in an area of the UK which has 10% of the population of the whole of the UK, run traffic estimates for the whole of the UK, and then divide by 10.
It's not perfect, but it gives you some idea....
