    help me please

I want to become a web designer. I am slowly learning how everything works. What I need help with is choosing graphics. Some clients give me all the graphics and other ask for my help. I want my site to have a better look, but am not sure what programs to use or where i can read to learn more-thanks

    Hi,

The industry standard for graphics is Photoshop and Illustrator. You can read about them at http://www.adobe.com/web/main.html You can even dowload a 30 day free trial of the software to see how it works.

As for website design, most pros use GoLive or Dreamweaver. Many people use Frontpage, but I would suggest staying away from this program (no flames please).

    Have Fun,

I could not recommend a career in design more highly. There are moments when I just can't believe how cool my job is -- and people pay me very well to do it :-)

Having said that -- design is about much more than just know how to use the tools. Learning to use the tools is the easy part. It is more importantly about the creative process and developing a good sense for design. I went to 5 years of college to learn about the history and the process of design -- the tools were the least important thing I learned. However, you can begin to develope a better sense of design by studying many of the graphic design magazines out there. My favorites are Eye, Emigre and Communication Arts. Here are some links.

Hang out here and you'll learn a bunch too. The software that I use most is Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Quark.

    Good luck.

    Re: help me please

Sounds like you want to have your own business..that's great. Go to www.trishiesweb.com. Build whatever kind of site you want. Load in photo's, create flash (included in the software), do whatever you want. This site has over $20M in software that you can utilize without having to go buy it yourself. Test the site at no cost. I have business owners who did not know a thing about jped or html and have built websites and earned $3000 in 1 month. (sold 2 sites). If you interested after you have built a site or two, call me. By the way, using this software, you'll be able to create $10-$20K websites - your clients will love it.

    Cheers!
