The time it takes your DMOZ listing varies greatly by category/editor for that category. Editors of smaller, less competive categories can sometime respond within a few weeks, but this seems to be the execption in my experience. When my listings have been included, I can say that it has made a difference. Some editors, especially of very competitive categories get burred in submissions. It does not hurt to submit to your second choice category if the first one does not pan out. You could always volunteer to be an editor if you have the time and feel like you would have something to add to the category. Good luck!

How about 'never'? I've been submitting one of my old sites to DMOZ and it never gets accepted. Well, not that it got rejected because they basically just ignore me. I submitted a quality site, no ads, and full of unique information. But it's really tough so I've decided to stop trying. DMOZ is overrated, especially with the trouble they put you through to have your quality site(s) ignored/rejected. The editors there need to wake up and get to work.

I hear you. I have tried to get websites into certain categories that I felt were most appropriate but never got a response, even though I edit DMOZ categories. My only recommendation is to see if there are other categories that your business could be submitted to. I know that many give up on DMOZ, but they can have a large SEO benefit depending on which part of the directory you are listed in and where on the page your link is located positionally (higher on the page is better). Good luck.

You do realize that you are your own worst enemy? At best all you do by resubmitting is overwrite the previous submission with the new date! At worst you got flagged as a spammer. Why did you submit more than once for? You agreed to only submit once when you acknowledged that you read the guidelines upon submitting! How do you think any directory (not just DMOZ) should treat those who can not follow the guidelines they agreed to when submitting. ... don't figure!

    Hi Martyy

It does depend on what timescale you're referring to. I did resubmit one of my websites to DMOZ when it took well past 6 months to list.

I certainly wouldn't resubmit after about 2 weeks or whatever, that would be spamming. I tend to submit to DMOZ once and then put it to the back of my mind for about 6 months and then check again. My mentioned website did get listed eventually, after about a year or so.
