Does submitting a new site to blogs rank you high if your just starting out and your site is about 2 months old?

What so you mean by submitting a site to a blog? Are you talking about adding comments to a blog post?

Submitting comments to blogs won't do anything for your rankings unless the blog is set up to allow "do follow" links to a user's site listed with a comment. By default wordpress sites automatically add a nofollow attribute to all links from users who leave comments as well as all links within comments. nofollow links do not pass link juice and will not help your rankings.

Not really sure what you mean. Are you referring to blog commenting or submitting your blogs RSS feed to directories? Both can be useful. Provide additional details and I can elaborate.

What I meant was starting free blogs and linking the posts, comments to your site, like for example, I put up a new site then I start a blog over at blogger.com about my site. Many sites online offer free blogs, By making free blogs I'm sure it helps your traffic a bit but does it help SE rankings?

That's not advisable by google or I would believe any other search engines for that matter. What you are talking about is kinda like a link wheel. Have one main site and link many others to it. I have done link wheels in the past and it was a waste of time. It is better to go with more natural ways of link building.

You would do better having a blog on your site itself and promoting the content you add to your blog. You can use it to improve topic depth and internal linking improvements as well. A blog on another domain can help you, but you will need to develop it first and it will be harder than if you have one on your own site.

If you are planning on putting up a few quick blogs with a bunch of posts on each and links back just for the sake of it, that won't benefit you all that much. You will just have built a few low quality sites and getting back even lower quality links with the risk of being flagged as spam.

Do you mean submitting comments with a link back to your site?

I think if you are starting new blogs and they each have their own original and useful content, then linking them back to your main site is a good idea. But if you are just starting dummy blogs for the purpose of gaining links to your site, then it is a bad idea.
