    Database Failure Reasons

Hello Everyone, can anybody help me by posting some technical reasons of database failure and give some requirements for which data should not be lost from the database?

    1. If you don't know object oriented programming, learn it.
    2. If you use PHP, learn the PDO data object.

    Reasons for database failure...

Well i found some information as to some of the technical reasons a database could suffer a failure:

    • Disk Failure
    • Security Breach/Virus Infection
    • Corrupted Data
    • Corruption or Loss of Account and NT Group Information
    • Physical Disaster

Search Google for reasons for database failure and eventually you'll find something.

Have you recently experienced a database failure and cannot recover from it?

Sometimes you have to make some assumptions. Do you think the poster will return?

I'm not sure. I sort of think he was beginning the work of spamming but if not I hope he's not offended...we have experienced spamming attempts on here many times...

Until the opposite is proved, a question in my category of how long is a thread and how long will this thread be?

    A server hardware failure
    A server crash
A bug or problem in the database engine

Backups are the best solution to data loss. The frequency of the backups are determined by how important the data is deemed to be - it could be a nightly backup, or an hourly back up.

General questions like this are often posts for the sake of posting ... perhaps our new member will fill us in on his need to know.

If you're hanging around this post ... I suspect you could get a database to fail by writing a crawling content grabber and pointing it at DMOZ. That could be the OP's problem?
