True story: I do a comparison for one of my SEO clients against his competitors and have recently noticed one of their competitors getting a whole lot of links for their websites (including from Google). I have gone through most of them and hes either paying for featured advertsing (whereas he has very deep pockets) or he's paid a lump sum and asked someone to do it on his behalf.

Having said that, the other competitor has obviously opted for automatic submission and Yahoo and Google haven't even considered them!

The point I'm trying to make is automatic submission hasn't been worth it for a long time. Don't even risk it. Manual is a pain in the posterior, but there are better ways to get links.

I would suggest for manual submission and there are lot of free submission sites to promote your content.

Really? Besides the fact this thread has been dormant for the last 9 months, please substantiate both points with facts?

Why are you posting to dead threads? (Note the plural.)

Did you think that the This thread has not had a response in the last two months. Consider starting a new thread. message at the bottom of such threads only applies to others?

Repeating that which has been repeated countless times, and on a dead thread, serves no purpose.

You may want to stay away from those software that promises to submit to thousands of directories. Manual submissions is always best, you also want to vary your descriptions not have all links the same. That will equal spam on Google the all great god of the internet.
