While their base Discount Rate is higher, they do not have the Surcharges that subsidize the Rebate programs of other cards, such that their Total Effective Rate is lower.

With regards to disputes, they are the most Merchant friendly of the Big 4 brands. Good for me as a merchant; not so as a consumer.

More importantly, they've a huge problem with what is called "double exposure," whereby an Authorization only is followed by a combination Authorization/Capture for the same transaction, such that the original Authorization is orphaned, leaving it hanging around and using up head-room for a week or so.
