Backlinks are different for yahoo and google?

Hello all,

I have fresh website started just before 2 months.I am doing link building for it.I checked google webmaster tool for backlink..its showing me 26 and when I checked yahoo site explorer,it's 139. why so?

Google and Yahoo have different methodology to count backlinks?what is exact difference?

Please clear my doubts.

It seems that Yahoo shows more inbound links while Google is not willing to show you all back links but only a certain percentage of them.

That's correct. Even in Webmaster Tools, Google does not necessarily report all your backlinks.

Google's Search Engine Algorithm will be different from Yahoo's algorithm , hence u will find difference in backlinks.......

Well, I wouldn't put it that way. It's not related to the difference between the two algorithms, but because Google deliberately filters backlinks to show fewer than it indexes and to show different ones at different times. Yahoo shows a more complete version, but not necessarily the whole picture. Just a much larger one than Google.

Google just shows a small percentage of backlinks. It doesn't mean they just have those backlinks in their records. They just don't show you a few. Yahoo tends to show more backlinks, not all, but a majority of them.

Well Gogle will show all the backlinks it deems TRUE BACKLINKS.....you may have 1k links in various directories but Google may choose to ignore those because they are junk....whereas YAhoo is not so sophisticated....alwas pay mind to your Backlinks in Webmaster Tools.

Google does not show all your backlinks or your competitors' otherwise it would be easier to 'reverse engineer' any competitor websites and copy each and every site they get their links from.
