Because my company also has a lot of Dating Website Templates, I would recommend you to work more on your logo.
Add a red heart there. Blue is not a very expressive color for the site like yours.
And the header, generally deserves more space....seems like it's popped a little up.
Also, what would be placed in that grey area?

Think it needs some work if you study other dating sites/social sites the home page should be all about the signup form and benefits of the site and nothing else really.

At the moment I'm seeing a "not found" notification in the left side box. It's also continually fading in and out without content.

You're kind of live right now...you may want to address this...

I don't see to much of a problem with the blue, personally. I'm working on a similar project (slowly but surely) and I have used the same blue BUT have been getting the same input as you with respect to the colors and I think I shall be going with red...

When it comes to love, red is the color of choice (sub-consciously) for both men and woman (IMO)...you know - the color of love!!

I just dread having to change everything up but it looks like it may be a must.

Very simple, but that's good. Be sure to keep it this way and don't start adding a bunch of nonsense. Simplicity is the key for a site like this.
