A closer read shows that that was apparently implemented transparently, with the show_ads.js script having been changed to first invoke show_ads_impl.js, with google_enable_async = false being used to force return to the old behavior.
If this is in response to our adsense converstion I didn't know there was a follow up. Where is this "google_enable_async = false" being seen? In the adsense profile I chose "new code" as soon as it was offered. Are you saying, for some reason, the new async isn't being used?
As I read it, the new code defaults to google_enable_async = true, so that you need to explicitly override that with google_enable_async = false to force a return to the old behavior.
