    PR and Web Results

I did some major changes to my script in regards to optimization, and probably it payed off since my PR rose to 6 from 2.

But what I don't understand is that I am still invisible when it comes to google web results.

1- if PR is an indicator of how important google thinks my site is, then why I am not in the first million pages?

2- Is it possible that they only updated the PRs but not yet the results?

3- Is there a place on the web where you can check
when the last monthly update was?

    please advice,

    thanks.

Well, the going opinion is that PR has, at best, only a minor effect on positioning. Some say it has none at all. So just because you see your PR increasing, this does not guarantee the best positioning.

There was a PR update here recently (late last week/early this week). So PR has changed all it is going to for at least a few weeks.

Check and see how many of your pages have been indexed. Search for "site:www.YourURL.com inurl:www.YourURL.com" to see what pages of your site have been indexed by google. Usually within a few days of being spidered, you will start to appear in the SERPS. Your positioning will only change as google changes their algo. The "dances" of old don't really happen quite like they used to. Instead you will see minor changes (and differences among the datacenters) happen nearly constantly.

What kind of keywords are you shooting for? Are you getting these keywords in your inbound links? It is easier to get good positioning for less competitive phrases. Similarly, getting good position for something like "home loan" or "web host" will take a LONG time.

Post your URL so we can check it out. Also, post your site here: http://www.webproworld.com/viewforum.php?f=4 to have it reviewed and specifically ask about your SEO efforts.

Generally speaking, work on getting good inbound links from quality sites with consistent keywords in the anchor text. Work on the on-site SEO; keyword density, title tags, and site structure are VERY important. Keep working on your site to make it better for both spiders and users. Each of these things will take a long time get the hang of.

    Good luck.

This is what I'm talking about! I have done all that.

first two keywords are: 1. global economy 2.economic indicators

1- my site is totally optimized for my keywords. They are in my <title>, description, and partially in <h1> and <h2>. They are also in the first 25 words.

2- I use no spamming whatsoever.

    3- site:www.fiscalstudy.com result is: 454
    inurl:www.fiscalstudy.com result is: 440

4- My pages have a lot of content in relevant text - which is good.

5- My keyword density is better than that of my most competitors.

6- My PR is the same or within a 1 step range from theirs.

7- When I use web tools to check their optimization parameters, etc. I see that they are not any better than I am. (These include but are not limited to instantpositionSEODoctor, webjectives, delorie,..)

8- I am cached for more than a year now.

9- My site's cache is being updated at least twice a week.

10- The index page is updated every day.

11- Each week at least two new pages are added to the site.

12- most of the above are higher than my competitors'.

I closely examined to see what the top10 has, and I do not.

So, when compared to them, I should be in the top5, but I do not even exist.

    So my question is: why?

PR and position are two different factors

As has been said, knowing your URL will allow your WPW colleagues to answer you with a greater degree of usefulness.
However, my immediate response has to be concern about the keywords "global economy" and "economic indicators." Both just have to call for hundreds and thousands of results.
For instance, by global economy do you mean global economy or do you mean "global economy" or do you mean global economy, ad nauseum? Or is your site primarily concerned with forecasts or commentary or news reports or statistics or what? The interpretation of the search term has to involve so many permutations that your site's appearance cannot be anything but sheer coincidence.
My own case isn't all that good a parallel perhaps, but I make no attempt whatsoever to be found for a search term "real estate" (even though my site, with a PR5, may just be buried somewhere among the 4 million or so sites dealing with this topic). Instead, my title, meta tags, page content, etc., are aimed at people who want to know about "real estate in the niagara peninsula" -- and for this kind of specific search I'm encouraged by the fact that I turn up among the first 20 results in Google and elsewhere.
So then, worry about the precise search terms that relate to your site rather than ones that are just too broad to give you much if any guarantee of appearing in the Top Twenty.
