A little late but here's couple of experiences: submitted a site in early September and it was listed in late October; another was submitted around mid May and listed sometime before the end of last...
I think you'll find you can do much better than this.
It does not need to be linked to from the index page, it can be linked to from another page on the site. But if the link page is an orphan page, I doubt it would provide any benefit to the sites...
Some of my best converting traffic is from directories. My Yahoo listings perform well enough that if they weren't free listings I would gladly pay the annual recurring fee. ;) DMOZ also sends me a...
In the past, yes.
I still make use of directories, both free and paid. but I don't depend on them as they are just one part of an overall campaign.
Having great content is a good thing and may attract links on its own, but not if nobody knows about it. It's probably a good idea to work on getting some links to the content you have.
Are sites which use this attribute for all the wrong reasons identifiable? For example a site which offers to remove the "nofollow" attribute if you pay an annual fee...
Does rewarding sites that...
Silly me, I thought it was about sold links with the nofollow attribute - not whether or not a link attributed as such was easily identifiable. Must have been your first post that confused me...

How would a search engine determine if the link was sold or not?
It's definitely not worth getting stressed over; you'll probably do just as well without a listing. ;)
a quick question - have you disabled customized search? If not, sites that you frequently visit may appear higher in the rankings. Check here to see if it's enabled or disabled.

Hahahaha! Oh yeaaah!
Spent over 2 years in the box, even after correcting issues related to the penalty and filing a reinclusion request and repenting. Toolbar PR removed on all pages and couldn't...
It's been this was since the end of last year: Personalized search for everyone - You can disable the customization based on your search history by visiting the link in the upper R/H corner of the...
You seem to be having better success than most. ;)
And some of them are arrogant (or ignorant) enough to list the stats including the number of pending submissions on the front page of their directory.
I've seen new sites gain PR within 2/3weeks; depends on date of the snapshot for the toolbar PageRank export. If the links are indexed in time, it'll happen. If not, you'll have another chance in...
You can play the game of cat and mouse as they move from host to host; eventually they may find a host offshore who doesn't give a rat about your complaints. If the site is ranking in the search...
I'm just wondering if you're searching the same datacenter - by just using Google.com you may be getting different results for the site search as a result of your query being routed to different...
C0ldf1re - when performing your site search (site:example.com) are you using the same DC or are you merely going to Google.com or other TLD to perform the search?
Which website's pages ranks better for the relevant terms? ;) That's probably the site I'd want to be on.
I'm not sure that there are that many worthwhile directories that an automated solution or service would be necessary. I'd prefer to personally submit a listing as I doubt the abilities of those...
